Position Title: Civil Engineer – Land Development

Location: Austin, Texas


Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our private land development team. This role is ideal for a highly engaged, technically strong professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being deeply involved in every phase of a project—from early entitlements and conceptual planning through design, permitting and construction. The ideal candidate has a Professional Engineer (PE) license and at least 4 years of experience in civil site development, with a proven ability to drive design quality, manage the permitting and approvals processes, and provide timely solutions during construction. In this position, you’ll play a key role in leading the execution of project tasks with a production team, maintaining internal quality standards, and serving as a resource for both design and construction challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the design of land development projects including site grading, stormwater management,
    utility design, erosion control, and roadway design.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project permitting and lead coordination efforts with regulatory
    agencies.
  • Collaborate closely with the senior civil engineer and other team members to ensure high-quality
    deliverables and innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to project scheduling, budgeting, and task management to maintain efficiency and meet project
    deadlines.
  • Develop and refine internal standards, templates, reports, and checklists to improve design consistency,
    streamline workflows, and enhance team efficiency.
  • Act as a technical “firefighter” during construction, providing rapid and effective solutions to RFIs,
    unforeseen site conditions, and time-sensitive challenges.
  • Support construction-phase services including product submittal reviews, field observations, contractor
  • coordination, jurisdictional inspector coordination and project closeout procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas.
  • 4+ years of civil engineering experience with a strong focus on private land development projects.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design, permitting, and construction-phase support.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing civil design documents and permit applications.
  • Project experience in the City of Austin
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a solution-driven approach to technical challenges and project execution.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with surrounding jurisdictions such as Travis County, Williamson County, Hays County,
    Caldwell County, City of Round Rock, City of Pflugerville, City of Kyle, City of Lockhart, City of San
    Marcos and others.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface modeling, grading, pipe networks, and plan
    production.
  • Experience coordinating with other partner consultants including surveyors, architects, landscape
    architects, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and geotechnical engineers.
  • Exposure to large-scale master-planned developments or complex infill projects.
  • Working knowledge of water quality treatment and detention design.
